WORM – “Blackheart”: il nuovo singolo che apre le porte della Necropalace

Il nuovo singolo, accompagnato da un video che è il secondo capitolo della serie cinematografica Necropalace, conferma ancora una volta la capacità della band di trasformare il black doom in un’esperienza sensoriale totale. E mentre il nuovo album Necropalace si prepara a vedere la luce il 13 febbraio 2026 via Century Media, il gruppo floridiano ci trascina in un mondo dove il gotico, l’horror e il metal estremo si fondono in un’unica, ipnotica visione.

Il nuovo singolo dei Worm: Un viaggio nel cuore della Necropalace

“Blackheart” è una discesa rituale nelle profondità della Necropalace. Il video ci guida attraverso cripte, catacombe e corridoi dimenticati, fino al luogo di riposo di Nightfang. Accanto alla sua bara nera, un cuore incastonato nel ghiaccio pulsa di un rosso innaturale. È il “Blackheart”, artefatto occulto che alimenta le mura del castello e garantisce l’immortalità del signore vampiro.

Questa immaginifica narrazione visiva, curata dal regista Norman Cabrera (Danzig, Walking Dead, Fright Night II) con la supervisione di Ted Nicolaou (TerrorVision, Subspecies), trasforma il brano in un vero e proprio frammento di cinema horror anni ’80 e ’90. Una scelta estetica che non solo amplifica l’atmosfera del pezzo, ma rafforza l’identità dei Worm come band capace di costruire mondi.

Una ballata gotica per figli della notte

Phantom Slaughter descrive “Blackheart” come una “ballata d’amore gotica e vampiresca”. E in effetti, il brano si muove su un terreno emotivo coinvolgente. Le sue melodie fredde e malinconiche evocano l’isolamento, la perdita e la struggente nostalgia di chi vive ai margini della notte.

Musicalmente, il nuovo singolo dei Worm intreccia influenze che vanno dall’era avant‑garde dei Katatonia ai Fields Of The Nephilim, fino a un AOR gelido che richiama FM (UK), Strangeways e Harem Scarem. Tuttavia, i Worm non rinunciano alle loro radici: ecco quindi affiorare echi dei Death di Symbolic e dei Crimson Glory, come ombre che emergono dalle paludi ghiacciate della Florida.

Worm: camminare all’indietro verso il futuro

La forza dei Worm sta nella loro capacità di attingere a ogni angolo della storia del metal estremo senza mai risultare derivativi. Dal black sinfonico anni ’90 allo shred metal più emotivo degli anni ’80, la band ha costruito un linguaggio unico, riconoscibile e profondamente evocativo.

Dopo l’acclamato Foreverglade, il gruppo ha continuato a espandere la propria visione, raggiungendo con Necropalace un livello di grandiosità compositiva che pochi oggi possono eguagliare. Non è un caso che la band venga descritta come capace di “camminare all’indietro verso il futuro”: i Worm recuperano il passato, lo riplasmano e lo proiettano in un presente che ha disperatamente bisogno di immaginazione.

Un mondo di velluto, oro e solitudine

Necropalace è un luogo sospeso tra lusso decadente e abisso emotivo, dove il tempo sembra essersi cristallizzato. Le sue stanze, rivestite di velluto e oro ma segnate da polvere, ombre e silenzi, evocano un regno in cui le ferite del corpo possono guarire, mentre quelle del cuore restano aperte e pulsanti.

Il viaggio trova il suo culmine in “Witchmoon: The Infernal Masquerade”, arricchita dalla presenza del virtuoso Marty Friedman. Il brano finale suggella l’intero percorso con un’esplosione di tecnica, pathos e oscurità, offrendo una chiusura opulenta e teatrale che amplifica l’identità visionaria di Necropalace.

A journey into the heart of the Necropalace

“Blackheart” is a ritualistic descent into the depths of the Necropalace. The video guides us through crypts, catacombs, and forgotten corridors, to Nightfang’s resting place. Next to his black coffin, a heart embedded in ice pulses an unnatural red. It’s the “Blackheart,” an occult artifact that powers the castle walls and grants the vampire lord immortality.

This imaginative visual narrative, crafted by director Norman Cabrera (Danzig, Walking Dead, Fright Night II) under the direction of Ted Nicolaou (TerrorVision, Subspecies), transforms the song into a true slice of ’80s and ’90s horror cinema. This aesthetic choice not only amplifies the song’s atmosphere but also reinforces Worm’s identity as a world-building band.

A Gothic Ballad for Children of the Night

Phantom Slaughter describes “Blackheart” as a “gothic, vampire love ballad.” Indeed, the song treads a compelling emotional path. Its cold, melancholic melodies evoke the isolation, loss, and poignant nostalgia of those who live on the edge of the night.

Musically, the single weaves together influences ranging from Katatonia’s avant-garde era to Fields of the Nephilim, all the way to a chilly AOR reminiscent of FM (UK), Strangeways, and Harem Scarem. Worm: Walking backwards into the future
