L’etichetta discografica Cherry Red annuncia orgogliosamente la release di Certain Shades Of Limelight degli Swing Out Sister. Si tratta di un cofanetto curato magnificamente, un 8 CD box set che celebra la vibrante evoluzione dell’iconica band britannica di soul e pop sofisticato Swing Out Sister.
Nel corso degli anni che vanno dal 1994 al 2004, questa collezione cattura una decade d’oro di esplorazione musicale, raffinata e piena di re-inventiva.
Il successo degli Swing Out Sister negli anni Ottanta
Formati nel 1985, gli Swing Out Sister comprendevano Corinne Drewery (vocals), Andy Connell (tastiere) e il batterista originario Martin Jackson. I tre musicisti conquistarono il successo immediato con la loro orecchiabile hit Breakout. Oltre agli album di studio, Certain Shades of Limelight include tre bonus discs, The Big Elsewhere. Si tratta di un mini album di versioni soundtrack della canzone tema televisivo Now You’re Not Here. Il pezzo è stato precedentemente pubblicato in Giappone, con due discs impacchettati con B-sides, mix 7”, rari mix, pezzi strumentali, versioni alternative…Tutto per offrire ai fans un profondo tuffo nel ricco catalogo pieno di atmosfera della band.
Il set è stato compilato in collaborazione con Corinne ed Andy il che assicura sia autenticità e qualità. Il booklet che lo accompagna include delle note da copertina dal Classic Pop’s John Earls, album dopo album e punti di vista della band. E’ compreso anche un gruppo di illustrazioni fatte da Corinne.

Cherry Red Records proudly announces the release of Certain Shades Of Limelight, a beautifully curated 8CD box set celebrating the vibrant and soulful evolution of iconic British pop sophisticates Swing Out Sister. Spanning the years 1994 to 2004, this definitive collection captures a golden decade of musical exploration, refinement, and reinvention.
Formed in 1985, Swing Out Sister — comprised of Corinne Drewery (vocals), Andy Connell (keyboards), and original drummer Martin Jackson — found immediate success with their infectious hit Breakout. Their elegant blend of pop, jazz, and cinematic soul won them legions of fans and critical acclaim throughout the 1980s and beyond.
Five albums from Swing Out Sister
Following the success of Cherry Pop’s Blue Mood, Breakout & Beyond, this companion release brings together five essential studio albums from the band’s mid-career period — many of which have been long out of print:
The Living Return (1994).
Shapes and Patterns (1997).
Filth and Dreams (1999).
Somewhere Deep in the Night (2001).
Where Our Love Grows (2004).
Each album is presented in newly remastered form, preserving their original beauty while enhancing audio clarity. In addition to the studio albums Certain Shades of Limelight includes three bonus discs, The Big Elsewhere, a mini album of soundtrack versions of the tv theme song Now You’re Not Here, previously only released in Japan, and two discs packed with B-sides, 7”mixes, rare mixes, instrumentals, alternative versions and sought after edits- offering fans a deep dive into the band’s rich and atmospheric catalogue.
The set was compiled in collaboration with Corinne and Andy ensuring both authenticity and quality. There’s an accompanying booklet includes sleeve notes from Classic Pop’s John Earls, with album by album thoughts and insights from the band, and also featuring CD wallet illustrations by Corinne.
The future of the band
Swing Out Sister are currently recording a new big band album, making this release the perfect moment to revisit — or discover — their lush, sophisticated sound.
