Se è vero che le nuove versioni del disco, grazie alla tecnologia, offrono all’ascoltatore una percezione ancora più fresca e vitale dei brani, rivisitati con grande cura, con l’intuizione e con la collaborazione dei membri dell’epoca dei Genesis, è altrettanto vero che il vibe del lavoro resta quello di una volta. Ed è il sound epico, a tratti pastorale, poetico ed originalissimo tipico di Anthony Phillips, il mastermind musicale dei Genesis degli esordi. Nel brani presenti c’è, infatti, tutta la qualità e la profondità dello stile musicale di Phillips. Componente fondamentale per lo sviluppo, anche futuro, del suono dei Genesis.

Elementi che, a tratti, si ritrovano non a caso anche nel debut album solista di Phillips The Geese and the Ghost (1977). A completare il pacchetto un libro illustrato da 68 pagine contenente un esteso “ritratto” ad opera di Jon Dann, storico archivista di Anthony Phillips, che piazza l’album nel suo esatto contesto storico e creativo.

A questo proposito, molti followers di Anthony Phillips si sono chiesti il motivo dell’assenza dal video del chitarrista, pianista, produttore e compositore britannico. Il motivo è più semplice di quello che si immagina. A quanto sembra Anthony, per sua scelta professionale e personale, ha rifiutato questa “videointervista di gruppo”. Pur rimanendo in buoni rapporti con i restanti membri dei Genesis, Phillips ha preferito portare la sua personale visione in solitaria.
